To access records held by the State Archives, researchers can:

- Visit our Research Center.
About our Holdings
The bulk of the State Archives’ holdings are state government and select district and territorial government records.
State Government Records (1959-present)
These records document the work of:
- state agencies (Office of the Governor, Department of Fish & Game, Department of Natural Resources, etc.)
- the Alaska State Legislature
District (1884-1912) and Territorial (1912-1959) Government Records
The largest holdings consist of:
- District Court records (includes land records)
- papers of Alaska’s governors
Under AS 40.21.030, the Alaska State Archives preserves nearly 24,000 cubic feet of government records.
